Objectives:
Developer and/or Technical Team Leader position in a company that can take advantage
of my creativity, problem solving and process improvement skills as well as my ability
to quickly pick up new languages and technologies based on current business needs. The
ideal position would be in a team environment with constant challenges.
Experience:
2006 - 2007 Acxiom Corporation, Conway, AR
Development Community Leader
- Provided leadership for around 100 developers including career development, resource allocation, technical mentorship, conflict resolution, performance reviews and compensation reviews/adjustments
- Responsible for hiring (including participation in college recruitment), coaching, and termination of all developers in a division of Acxiom
- Worked with my leaders to allocate resources throughout the company matching developers with projects that fit there strengths and ensuring they were fully utilized
2001 - 2006 Acxiom Corporation, Conway, AR
Developer/Team Leader
- Team Leader and developer on the Delivery Center Organization Development and Enhancement (DCODE) team which included as many as 30 developers.
- Nominated by peers and leaders and chosen for DCO Diamond Award on two different occasions for my work in creating and improving processes around the shared technical team that I currently lead.
- Nominated by leadership, interviewed, and chosen for Acxiom's Leadership Candidate Program class of 2006. I am only one of 21 associates selected across the company to participate in this program which is used to train associates for future high level leadership positions.
- Created a process using Acxiom's Source Forge Enterprise environment that allows projects to be submitted, assigned to developers, and actively tracked through the change management process including procedures, documentation, and training surrounding the new process.
- Implementing a web application that sits on top of Source Forge Enterprise to make the process even easier to use for the designers and developers. It also works with an Oracle database containing developer skills and efficiencies to recommend a developer that has the skills and time to work on new projects as they are submitted.
- Created a training process (including training sessions, training projects, and mentoring) that cut the time to get new developers up to speed in half.
- Designed and coded a new process for a client that saved 30-45 minutes per list (average of 60 lists per week). This process needed to be user friendly and able to handle user error, so I evaluated my options based on development environments available to me and decided to code it in ASP.NET/C#, which was brand new to me. Even though it was my first project in this area, it was very successful and I've been nominated for an award as a result.
1993 - 2001 Acxiom Corporation, Conway, AR
Multiple Technical Roles
- Database Developer - responsible for coding database/beckend changes for multiple clients including creating reports, changing build processes, and monitoring systems
- Decision Support Analyst - worked with customers to create reports and troubleshoot marketing applications
Did you know...
At his former place of employment, the accomplishment that Ed is most proud of (other than meeting his wife) is creating, leading, and eventually spreading a shared team model for developers around the company. The original team started with 4 developers and grew into 4 teams with over 80 developers before he left in early 2007.
